This was a pretty personal shoot. Not the nature of the shoot but the people that were in it. I've known all these guys for 5-ish years coz most of us were college mates. I've known ODDSOX since it's beginning. Actually they didn't start out as ODDSOX, they started out as L2N1 and I was there taking pictures of their first and L2N1's last performance. That was my first time covering an event and well, 2021 me says the pictures were pretty bad. 2017 me was pretty proud of myself. Anyway, ODDSOX performed for the very first time in Deepwoods '18 and they have been growing since! They won Parx hunt and were India's best college band in 2018. And that was probably the last time I saw them as a band. Coz we graduated and I didn't get the chance to see all of them together.
Today was pretty special coz, today is the R6's first ever shoot, this is ODDSOX's first official photoshoot and this is the first time in a year that they've met in person. If you couldn't tell, the pressure was pretty high. Since they were all friends and are familiar with my work, their bar for me was pretty high. The bar I set for myself was higher coz the camera I now own is a beast and I couldn't wait to test her.
But today was... well I would say fun, but it would be an understatement. Today was a something we all needed and something we would always remember. The shoot was for 6 hrs (no worries, we had plenty of breaks in between, including a snooker break, lunch break, cake break, a juice break, a break to play cards and take a tiny nap, so...) The shoot was for 6 hrs with a lot of breaks and we kinda spent 11 ish hrs together. Every single minute was just fun. Just pure fun. From choosing which outfit to wear to actually accomplishing wearing it (trust me, 5 people changing isn't easy), from posing for pictures to becoming pros at "fake laughing" (oh man, they actually burst out in laughter when I said fake laugh!), from being full of energy at 8.00a.m to being tired but in a very good mood at 7.00p.m, today was one very good day.
It was an honor, being ODDSOX's photographer but it was a greater honor to be a part of something really special.
Thank God for a beast of a camera, amazing people, more amazing location, safety of all equipment, safe journey and thank God for one very very good day.
Check out oddsox y'all ----->
