This shoot at Semmozhi Poonga y'all... Oh my goodness! Lemme start from the very beginning. Lakshmi and Sivakumar are newly weds and I mean newly weds. They only got married last week on the 27th of August 2021. You can imagine how busy their week must've been. Lakshmi was my senior at school and this is the first time I'm meeting her since she left school. That's some 7 ish years. It was really cool getting to meet her as a newly wed wife and it was more special coz I had the honor of being their photographer. The day was beautiful, since the morning. There was amazing light and I couldn't wait for the evening.
If you know me, you'll know that I loveee being punctual. You can count on me to be at least 30 mins early, no matter where I'm going. I know, I know sounds crazy, but in my defense, it gives me time to relax and chill.
Anyway, I was there early and walked around the park choosing locations. Once I was done, I sat down and was waiting for the couple to arrive. All of a sudden, I felt rain drops on me and I looked up. Sure enough, it was drizzling. I started praying and the clouds cleared. The clouds cleared...only to come back stronger.
It started drizzling and it got stronger and stronger. Now I was starting to get wet. I know my God is good. So I prayed that He would lead me no matter the circumstance. Lakshmi and Shiva arrived and we discussed and decided that we'd shoot in the rain!
I made a temporary rain cover for my camera out of a plastic bag I had. It worked, for seconds :) I ended up not using it at all. We had to work really quick and we did. These two are absolutely amazing and so sweet. They trusted me throughout and that was all I needed. We flew through the poses and when we wrapped up, all three of us were pretty wet. Wet but very happy.
I never in my wildest dreams would've imagined a situation like this, but I'm so glad it happened and I'm very grateful to the Lord for His Grace through it all. A rainy day shoot without umbrellas or rain covers or any other protection, but one that was full of Grace, joy and happiness.
Here are my favourites from the day! Oh and don't they look absolutely adorable?
p.s : I care about my camera very very much. It's my baby. I wouldn't risk my camera. I knew my camera could handle a few drops of rain and I made sure I was either under the shade of a tree of I was protecting my camera. So yes. All good :)
